Senior Software Engineer
Objective:
The SRE team is rapidly growing and facing a significant backlog. Wei is looking to bring on a highly experienced software engineer contractor to support their automation projects. The contractor will support an automation initiative within the SRE team.
Key Points Discussed:
-
Pay Rate:
The approved budget is up to USD BR/hour pay rate. -
Location:
The team is open to fully remote candidates, located anywhere in the US with no time zone preference.
Please note, this position is also open in Canada (VNDLY 2067) - but it is for the same, single headcount. There is only 1 opening on the team - they are just open to candidates anywhere in the US or Canada. -
Candidate Evaluation Preferences:
-
Candidates should ideally have 4+ years of experience.
-
Live technical interviews are preferred over take-home assignments to avoid the risk of AI-assisted or outsourced answers.
-
Wei is interested in having candidates present previous projects and, if possible, share GitHub links or prior work samples in advance.
-
Resumes alone are becoming unreliable due to AI-generated content-seeing actual work helps validate experience.
-
-
Interview Scheduling Process:
-
Wei prefers camera-on interviews to better assess engagement and authenticity.
-
Feedback is essential to adjust the candidate search as needed.
-
-
Contract Length:
This is a 4-month contract to start, with potential to extend/convert (depending on performance and business needs/approval of permanent headcount).
Additional Notes:
-
Jessica confirmed that vetted, IT-specialized vendors will pre-screen candidates to ensure they meet technical expectations before reaching Wei. Wei is depending on your judgment to present the best candidates.
- He appreciated the added step of reviewing work samples ahead of interviews.
