Position Overview:
The City Physician provides comprehensive medical services for current and prospective City of Delano employees. This contracted position involves conducting various medical examinations, administering drug screenings, performing fitness-for-duty evaluations, completing DMV medical certifications, treating job-related injuries, providing COVID-19 testing, and administering vaccines. The City Physician also serves as a medical/legal witness and resource for City management.

Qualifications:
✦Education: Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
✦Certification: Must be board certified
✦Licensure: Valid medical license to practice in the state of California.
✦Experience: Must have experience in relevant field.
✦Technical Skills: Proficiency in conducting medical examinations and interpreting results.
✦Soft Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
✦Insurance: Must carry professional liability insurance and medical malpractice insurance of at least $1,000,000.

Key Responsibilities:
✦Conduct pre-employment physical examinations for various employee groups.
✦Perform functional capacity evaluations/assessments (including ADA assessments).
✦Complete Department of Motor Vehicle physicals and medical certifications
✦Conduct fitness-for-duty evaluations and disability retirement evaluations.
✦Administer and interpret drug screening tests (including DOT-regulated tests).
✦Treat job-related injuries and provide COVID-19 testing and vaccines.
✦Serve as a medical/legal witness and resource for City management.
