Summary:

The Associate HR Manager provides practical, compliant human resources support across the full employee lifecycle. This role manages complex employee relations matters, including investigations, performance management, and corrective action, ensuring fair, timely, and consistent application of company policies and employment laws. This role works closely with managers and leadership to help implement, maintain, and continuously improve HR policies, programs, and processes that support operational needs, employee engagement, and compliance. With a strong focus on execution, risk awareness, and sound judgment, this position supports a multi-site, operational workforce and contributes to a positive, respectful, and compliant workplace environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise, recommend, and implement company-wide HR policies and procedures, including developing, maintaining, and communicating employee handbooks and HR manuals in compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Lead and manage complex employee relations matters by conducting thorough, impartial investigations into grievances, disciplinary actions, harassment, discrimination, and other workplace concerns across all departments and locations.
  • Provide risk-aware, legally compliant guidance to ensure timely, fair, and consistent resolution of employee relations issues aligned with company policy, employment law, and best practices.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to managers by providing guidance on performance management, conflict resolution, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Partner with leadership to develop, evaluate, and enhance HR programs, systems, and departmental goals through process improvements and data-driven solutions that support operational effectiveness, employee engagement, and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, leave regulations (FMLA/CFRA), ADA accommodations, harassment prevention requirements, and workplace safety standards.
  • Analyze workforce data and trends to identify retention risks, performance patterns, and compliance gaps; recommend actionable solutions to improve employee outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Support the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment support, onboarding, performance management, employee counseling, progressive discipline, PIPs, terminations, exit interviews, and outplacement support.
  • Perform recruitment activities, conduct new-hire orientations, and ensure employee onboarding packages are filled out correctly.
  • Coordinate training and development initiatives that provide employees with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to grow in their roles and support organizational success.
  • Support benefits administration, including Open Enrollment and change processes, and partner with the Compensation & Benefits team to resolve employee issues.
  • Support audits, regulatory reporting, and documentation processes as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred. Additional education can be in lieu of experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including 2–3 years in an HR Generalist or Senior HR Generalist role, preferably in retail, manufacturing, logistics, or operational environments.
  • Experience supporting multi-site, retail, or frontline operational workforces strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual in English/Mandarin is required.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent HR certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations and managing complex, sensitive employee relations matters.
  • Hands-on experience managing the full employee lifecycle, including performance management, coaching, corrective action, and progressive discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, with the ability to interpret and apply HR policies consistently while balancing legal risk and business needs.
  • Proven ability to serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting HR metrics, workforce data, and trends.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and integrity when handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills and willing to learn, detail-oriented, and be able to multitask.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with HRIS systems is a plus.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • This job may require standing or walking for extended periods of time, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing repetitive motions.

Working Conditions:

  • This job is performed in an environment that may have exposure to heat, noise, and other environmental factors.

  • Available to work on weekends and holidays as necessary.

Compensation:

The pay range for this job starts at $80,000 per year. This is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
