Job Description and Duties

The Division of Safety of Dams is responsible for evaluating the performance of existing jurisdictional dams, reviewing and approving inundation maps for potential breach of dams and their critical appurtenant structures, and reviewing applications for design and construction of a new or existing dams in California. Under the general direction of the Division Manager, the incumbent plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Design Engineering Branch. The Branch provides detailed technical review and preparation of technical documents on applications submitted to the Division for approval and ensures compliance with the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act.

Special Requirements

Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers is required. This position requires the incumbent to possess a valid California Driver’s License.
