Job description

Ramos Oil Co., a family owned business since 1951, is seeking a Clerk/Cashier at its Rio Vista location. Seeking friendly, energetic and responsible people.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties may include one or more of the following (other duties may be assigned)

• Provide exceptional customer service, including but not limited to; Greet customers as they enter store; Assist customers, if necessary, in location of products; Process cashier transactions for fuel and store purchases; Verify valid I.D. when necessary for tobacco and alcohol sales; Collect for all sales; Count back change; Offer receipt; Thank all customers; Invite their return
• May be required to assist customers in operation of fuel dispensers or other store machines and equipment
• Responsible for accuracy in recording sales, money handling, recording charge transactions, and balancing cash drawer
• Responsible for shift inventories of cigarettes, and other products outlined by the store manager including but not limited to stocking, facing and cleaning the items and their display areas
• Proper storage and rotation of food products in order to maximize food safety and minimize waste
• Responsible for controlling loitering and open containers on premises
• Must follow all rules and policies outlined in the company’s employee guidelines as well as all laws and regulations imposed by governing agencies
• Must maintain safe work practice at all times

Other Job Functions

• Perform various tasks in general housekeeping including but not limited to:
• Sweep and mop floors; Wipe down counters; Face and dust products; Clean glass doors and displays; clean and disinfect restrooms; pick up loose trash/garbage; empty waste receptacles; Clean food preparation areas; Clean fuel dispensers; Clean lot and fuel islands; Wash outside windows; Water planters; Clean phone booths; Refill window wash units; Refill paper products
• Perform receiving procedures on vendor deliveries as directed by supervisor
• Stock and re-stock merchandise as needed including but not limited to the following tasks:
• Price mark and stock new merchandise as it is delivered; Work up any back stocked items; Check and replenish ice/syrup in fountain machines; Replenish cups, lids, napkins, straws, bags, etc.; Prepare fresh coffee every half hour; Prepare fresh food items; Check temperatures in cooling and heated merchandisers; Refill ice barrels; Re-stock walk-in and reach-in coolers

Job Requirements

• Ability to follow written and verbal directions
• Ability to speak and understand English
• Possession of basic math skills
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships, demonstrating cooperative behavior with customers, colleagues and supervisors at all times
• Ability to perform in a fast paced environment. Requires multi-tasking and accuracy, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines. Must be self-motivated.
• May require working nights, weekends, holidays, and a variety of shifts, determined by store needs and at the manager’s discretion.
