Statement of Qualifications
Please provide a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) for the hiring manager’s review. Applications received without an SOQ or those that do not respond to the specific questions below will not be considered. The SOQ must be typed, titled “Statement of Qualifications,” and each response must be numbered and list all relevant experience, education, and training, including places of employment, dates, and duties performed. The SOQ must not exceed two pages in length and must not have font smaller than 11 point.- Based on the duty statement, please describe your relevant background, experience, education, and/or training that makes you the best candidate for the Associate Program Auditor position with CalPERS Office of Audit Services. Please include information on your specific role and the number of years you performed at that level.
- Describe a time when you disagreed with your manager. Please include how you communicated the disagreement, and what the outcome was.
- Describe your experience presenting audit findings, or in meetings with staff and management at various levels, internally and externally.
Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Professional accounting, auditing, management information system, or related financial and/or performance consulting experience which included the preparation of reports and presentation of recommendations to management.
- Ability to analyze problems and recommend effective courses of action.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as well as the ability to effectively manage and produce formal, written reports with documented findings and objective conclusions.
- Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
- If applicable, auditing related experience gained as an employee of the State of California.
