California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) is seeking multiple Associate Program Auditors in the Office of Audit Services, Employer Compliance Unit.

Under the direction of the Staff Management Auditor/Senior Program Auditor, the incumbent assists with the planning and conducting of public agency audits to ensure public agencies’ compliance with the Public Employees Retirement Law (PERL) and California Public Employee’s Retirement System (CalPERS) contracts.

Telework Information
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.

Effective July 1, 2025, The California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each employee shall receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits, monthly. The salary range(s) included in the job advertisement do not reflect the 3 percent reduction in pay.

Statement of Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Professional accounting, auditing, management information system, or related financial and/or performance consulting experience which included the preparation of reports and presentation of recommendations to management.
• Ability to analyze problems and recommend effective courses of action.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as well as the ability to effectively manage and produce formal, written reports with documented findings and objective conclusions.
• Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
• If applicable, auditing related experience gained as an employee of the State of California.
