Office Technician (Typing)
Job Description and Duties
Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications for at least one (1) Limited Term – Full-Time appointment to the Office Technician (Typing) classification for Program VI and is under the direct supervision of the Program Assistant. This limited-term position may be extended up to 24 months and has the possibility of becoming permanent.
This position requires that the candidate be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. This will include excellent spelling and grammar skills. The candidate must possess the ability to work effectively on the computer. This will include effective
use of common computer programs such as Excel, Adobe, and Microsoft Word. The ability to use common office electronic devices such as fax and copy machines, printers, and multi-line telephones is required. The candidate must have the ability to interact with others in a professional fashion, even when under time demands and other pressures. The candidate must be able to create and maintain effective databases for the tracking and monitoring of court reports and other time sensitive documents/processes. The successful candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and must be highly reliable in regard to accuracy of work, time management, and consistent attendance.
TYPING CERTIFICATE:
In order to be appointed as Office Technician (Typing), candidates must be able to type at least forty (40) words per minute. Please provide a typing certificate that meets CalHR requirements:

Working Conditions
Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.
Special Requirements
- The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired.
