The Safety & Compliance Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the Risk & Standards Department by implementing, monitoring, and improving safety programs across both office and field operations. This full-time, in-person position is based at the Roseville, CA corporate office and involves approximately 50% field travel, supported by a company vehicle. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about fostering a culture where safety comes first.
Position Summary
The Field Safety Specialist supports Advanced IPM’s Risk & Standards Department through a combination of field-based safety oversight and administrative compliance responsibilities. This role plays a key part in implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving company safety programs across both office and field operations.
Working closely with branch leadership and field teams, the Field Safety Specialist promotes safe work practices, supports incident investigations, and helps ensure compliance with applicable California and federal safety, transportation, and environmental regulations. This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility but serves as a trusted safety partner across the organization.
This is a full-time, in-person role based out of our Roseville, CA corporate office, with approximately 50% field travel supported by a company vehicle.
Key Responsibilities
Field Safety & Operational Support
- Conduct routine, targeted, and follow-up field safety inspections, observations, and audits
- Partner with branch and field personnel to identify hazards and support corrective actions
- Participate in Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), pre-task planning, tailgate talks, and branch safety meetings
- Provide real-time safety coaching and guidance to employees and contractors
- Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions or behaviors are observed, in accordance with company policy
Incident Reporting & Investigation
- Support and participate in incident, injury, and near-miss investigations
- Assist with root cause analysis and development of corrective and preventive actions
- Ensure timely, accurate incident reporting and documentation
- Maintain incident records within company safety management systems
Safety Systems & Technology
- Administer and maintain safety management software and related platforms
- Review fleet safety data, telematics, and drive camera footage for trends and improvement opportunities
- Prepare safety metrics, dashboards, and compliance reports for internal stakeholders
Training & Communication
- Assist with the development, coordination, and delivery of safety training programs
- Conduct field-based and classroom safety training as needed
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready training records and certifications
Compliance & Program Support
- Support compliance with regulations including Cal/OSHA, DOT, fleet safety, CUPA, and environmental programs
- Assist with regulatory inspections, audits, and information requests
- Support corrective action tracking and documentation
- Assist with implementation and maintenance of company safety programs, policies, and procedures
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of 2 years of safety-related experience in a field, administrative, or hybrid safety role
- Strong working knowledge of Cal/OSHA and California-specific safety requirements
- OSHA 30 and CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within first 90 days)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to influence without authority and engage effectively with field personnel
- Professional judgment when handling sensitive, complex, or high-risk situations
Highly Desirable
- Experience developing safety programs, procedures, training materials, or compliance documentation
- HAZWOPER certification
- DOT and fleet safety experience
- Experience with incident investigations and root cause analysis methodologies
Physical & Work Environment
- Combination of office and active field environments
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb in field settings as required
- Approximately 50% travel; company vehicle provided
