ER Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Madison, WI 53792 (Wisconsin healthcare jobs)
• Employment Type: Travel Nursing Contract
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 9/22/2025 – End: 12/22/2025)
• Shifts: Evening/Night, 3x12-hour shifts per week (15:00–03:30 or 19:00–07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Setting: Emergency Department (58-bed unit, Level I Trauma Center)
• Weekend & Holiday Rotation: Required
• Floating: May be required to float to other hospital units/locations
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2130–$2190

ER Nurse Qualifications

• Active Wisconsin RN license or compact state RN license (must be in hand at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience (adult and pediatric populations, within last 3 years)
• Prior travel nurse experience required
• Experience in an Academic Level I Trauma Center or similar large hospital preferred
• Basic Arrhythmia experience; must pass telemetry exam prior to start
• Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting experience required (preferred within last 12 months)
• BLS, ACLS, PALS (American Heart Association only), and TNCC certifications required
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)

Emergency Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care to neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Perform diagnostic interventions, cardiac catheterization support, acute stroke care, trauma care, burn center support, and special procedures
• Coordinate patient care with ground ambulances and Med Flight for critically ill and injured patients
• Manage splints, central and arterial line care, chest tube management, intubation, and ventilated patients
• Administer emergency medications, blood products, and procedural sedation
• Interpret ABGs, dysrhythmias, and telemetry; pass required telemetry competency exams
• Support patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, mental/behavioral health conditions, and trauma
• Participate in weekend and holiday rotations; float to other hospital units as needed
