Direct Support Professional
NCI Affiliates is a local, non-profit organizations with over 50 years of experience serving individuals with developmental disabilities. Dedicated to promoting independence and inclusion, the organizations provide vocational training, education, adaptive living skills programs, advocacy, and community living services. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals to achieve their personal and professional goals by teaching essential life skills and offering support in daily activities. Full-time and Part-time positions are available, offering opportunities to make a meaningful impact in the community while growing your career.
Responsibilities
- Support individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving greater independence and inclusion in the community.
- Teach and reinforce essential life skills, including adaptive living, vocational, and social skills.
- Assist individuals in setting and working toward personal and professional goals.
- Provide advocacy and guidance to promote self-advocacy and personal growth.
- Transport individuals as needed to community activities, appointments, or work sites.
- Maintain accurate documentation and communication regarding individual progress and activities.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality, person-centered support.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid California driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle (driving required).
- Ongoing proof of current state-required auto insurance.
- Ability to pass required fingerprint clearance through the California Department of Justice and the FBI.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Basic computer and technology proficiency.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Physical ability to regularly sit, stand, bend, twist, walk, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs.
Compensation
$23.00 per hour , depending on experience and position.
