Job Description and Duties

The California Student Aid Commission is seeking and Analyst III to serve as the Equity and Workforce Specialist to serve within the Personnel Office of the Fiscal and Administrative Services Division. As the Equity and Workforce Specialist, you will serve as a key advisor and subject matter expert on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), and Workforce & Succession Planning Initiatives.

Working Conditions

This position is presently headquartered at 11120 International Drive, Suite 100, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670 and may also be expected to report to the Downtown Sacramento location at 1102 Q Street, Sacramento, CA 95811.

  • Exposure to computer screens and other basic office equipment.
  • Work in a climate-controlled office environment, open office space with artificial lighting.
  • Attend meetings in designated conference rooms and be willing to travel to off-site locations.
  • Current residency in the state of California is required. This position may be eligible for hybrid teleworking. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on CSAC's current telework policy. While CSAC supports telework, regular in-person attendance will be required at CSAC's Rancho Cordova and/or Downtown Sacramento location(s) based on operational needs. Teleworking outside the state of California is strictly prohibited.

Special Requirements

Candidates are required to submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ). The SOQ is a narrative discussion of how the candidates' education, training, experience, and/or skills qualify them for the position. The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidates' ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. Resumes and/or cover letters do not take the place of the SOQ.

Instructions: The SOQ must be typed in 12-point font, limited to one (1) page in length, clearly labeled "Statement of Qualifications".
  • Describe how your education and professional experience qualify you for the Analyst III, Workforce and Equity Specialist position. In your response, explain ow your background has prepared you to perform the duties outlined in the duty statement, including DEIA program implementation, workforce data analysis, EEO compliance, investigations, training development, and cross-divisional collaboration. Provide specific examples that demonstrate your readiness for this role.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Experience leading or implementing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) initiatives within an organization.
  • Skilled at advising managers, supervisors, and executive leadership on sensitive and complex personnel, EEO, and workforce matters.
  • Comfortable leading cross-divisional projects and collaborating with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills and can effectively facilitate training, presentations, and discussions with staff at all levels.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment, tact, and professionalism when navigating sensitive or confidential issues.
  • Bring a positive, inclusive, and collaborative approach to building a workplace culture where employees feel valued and supported.
