Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Registered Nurse Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Must be willing to work days or nights for primary shift. Will be determined by facility needs. Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: One (1) year of professional nursing experience preferred License: Must possess current licensure in the state of employment Certifications: A valid driver's license required Must-Have: - Graduate from an accredited college, university, or nursing program with a degree/diploma in nursing. Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides comprehensive nursing care. This includes executing Licensed Independent Provider orders, dispensing and administering medications, and assisting with examinations and treatment of patients. Nursing and supervisory techniques are applied in the care, treatment, and referrals of inmates/residents. All technical and clinical procedures are performed within the scope of education and licensure. Appropriate nursing skills are applied in the treatment of inmates/residents. Attending sick calls with the physician to see inmates/residents is required. A list of inmates/residents to be examined must be prepared. The examining room and equipment must be prepared in advance. Pill call operations, medication dispensing, and documentation are performed as required. Licensed Independent Providers are contacted for medication and treatment orders or emergencies. New inmates/residents with illnesses or injuries are examined and assessed. Referrals to emergency rooms or other healthcare facilities are made as required. Emergency procedures are performed as needed, and Licensed Independent Provider is notified for treatment orders. Assistance is provided in coordinating professional medical services. Responsibilities include monitoring inmate/resident hospitalizations and providing guidance to nursing staff. Maintaining a good working relationship with facility staff and nursing staff is essential. Established corporate and facility policies are utilized in decision-making, but independent judgment is also exercised. Medical services are regularly evaluated to prevent misuse or duplication. Security and confidentiality of all medical records must be maintained. Assistance is given to review medical files to ensure documented services. Catastrophic illnesses are closely monitored. Pharmacy use audits are conducted for adherence to formulary. All applicable pharmacy laws must be complied with, especially those regarding controlled substances. Observation and recording of inmate/resident behavior are essential. The medical unit must be inspected for items that could be used as contraband. Health counseling and education are provided as required. Assistance is given in preparing and maintaining standard records and reports. Reading, analyzing, and interpreting medical and technical procedures is necessary. Process and respond to lawsuits, and attend court hearings when required. Facilitation of accreditation of the medical program may be applicable by providing efficient medical services. Safety and accident reports are prepared as required, and appropriate action is taken in incidents and emergencies.
