Telework Information: This position requires full-time attendance in the office, working onsite five days per week. Sponsorship: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Effective July 1, 2025, The California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each employee shall receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits, monthly. The Accounting Trainee's duties include but are not limited to processing and reimbursing administrative revolving fund account advances and payments, payment, recording, reporting, and reconciliation of travel, training, salary, and miscellaneous expenses, accounts receivables, and payroll, audit relocation and travel expense claims and other requests for reimbursement from employees, board members, and retirees. Working Conditions
- Must be able to work in the office Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
- Must be able to work in a low wall, cubicle environment with bright natural and fluorescent light.
- Position is not eligible for telework.

Statement of Qualifications
Please provide a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) for the hiring manager’s review. The SOQ must be typed, titled “Statement of Qualifications,” and each response must be numbered and list all relevant experience, education, and training, including places of employment, dates, and duties performed. The SOQ must not exceed two pages in length and must not have font smaller than 12 point and address the following: 1. Describe your education and experience that qualify you for this position. Please include any experience with processing administrative revolving fund requests, travel expense claims, reimbursement claim schedules, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll. 2. Describe three of your strengths that you feel make you the best candidate for this position. 3. Describe a time in your professional or educational experience when you became aware of a potential problem and resolved it before it became an issue. Minimum Qualifications All experience and education relating to the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) listed on the Classification Specification should be included in your application package to clearly demonstrate how you meet the MQs for this position. In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Experience processing Payroll, Administrative Revolving Fund requests, Travel Expense Claims, Reimbursement Claim Schedules, Accounts Receivables, or Accounts Payable
- Customer service experience
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and PeopleSoft Financials software knowledge and experience
- Great work ethic with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Governmental accounting experience
