We are seeking an experienced and technically strong R&D Team Leader to drive innovation for our AI-based sophisticated edtech platform powering our product that is gaining rapid adoption. You will lead a small, high-performing team of 2-3 excellent engineers, and a product manager, working on advanced features and capabilities that will transition to our core engineering team once developed. This role combines hands-on technical work with leadership, ensuring we remain at the cutting edge of AI-powered product development.

About MathGPT.ai: MathGPT.ai by Got It Education is a revolutionary generative AI powered, tutoring and teaching platform designed to deliver accurate, cheat-proof, AI tutoring and learning experiences to improve student outcomes. This year MathGPT.ai has launched in hundreds of classrooms across the US and is actively used by thousands of students daily.

Key Responsibilities

Lead & Mentor: Manage, guide, and inspire a small R&D team, fostering a culture of innovation, rapid iteration, and excellence.

Design & Prototype: Develop advanced, high-impact features for the platform, from concept to proof-of-concept and eventual handoff to engineering.

Hands-On Development: Contribute to coding, architecture design, and integration across front-end and back-end components.

AI & Prompt Engineering: Experiment with, refine, and deploy advanced AI models and prompt-engineering strategies to enhance product capabilities.

Tech Stack Expertise: Work with Python, SQLAlchemy, React, React Native, and related tools to create seamless, scalable solutions.

Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with engineering, product, and design teams to ensure smooth knowledge transfer and successful feature integration.

Innovation Ownership: Stay ahead of AI trends, evaluate emerging technologies, and recommend adoption strategies aligned with business goals.

Qualifications

Experience: 78+ years in software development, with at least 2 years in a leadership or technical lead role.

Technical Skills: Strong Python programming skills, proficiency with SQLAlchemy or equivalent ORM frameworks, experience building and maintaining React and React Native front-ends, familiarity with prompt engineering and AI/ML model integration.

Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead small teams, set priorities, and deliver innovative features on schedule.

Product Mindset: Strong understanding of how R&D outputs transition to production-ready features.

Communication: Excellent collaboration and technical communication skills.

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, or LLM fine-tuning.

Background in start-up or high-growth environments.
