Job Developer
**URGENTLY HIRING**
TITLE: Job Developer- Employment Specialist
ANTICIPATED RATE: $24/hr
DEPARTMENT: Achievement House North
LOCATION: San Luis Obispo/ Five Cities Area
SCHEUDLE: Full Time, Monday – Friday (Occasional Saturday)
BONUS: $250 Sign on Bonus (paid at 90 and 180 days)
Achievement House, Inc., a non-profit organization with a history of serving individuals with developmental disabilities since 1957, is seeking a dedicated Job Developer responsible for networking in the community, developing jobs and contracts for persons served, providing job enhancement resources (developing a resume, applying for jobs, etc.) and assisting individuals with finding and retaining community employment. This is not a supervisory position.
Required Qualifications
- Must have own vehicle and maintain a current California driver’s license.
- Must provide on-going proof of current state required auto insurance.
- Must clear fingerprints through the California Department of Justice and the FBI.
- A high school education or equivalent.
- Must successfully complete First Aid / CPR training (Training is offered onsite)
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with Individuals with Developmental Disabilities.
- Ability to motivate others.
- Flexibility with work schedules and willingness to help cover different sites as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide individuals with continuous instructions for work specific to vocational growth and training objectives that guarantee and correspond with abilities and development.
- Research of the labor market conditions to identify types of community-based jobs.
- Provide direct service coverage when needed to help individuals retain employment.
- Maintain evaluations and analysis of the job placement market plan and work environment reports, maintain a development log.
- Assess and clarify the personnel potential needs of employers and training required for those jobs.
- Follow through with employers to ensure satisfaction of both our clients and employers
- Must place two clients per quarter (if referral is available)
- Participate in local events pertaining to employment.
- Ensure company materials are current for distribution and marketing.
- Conduct Job Preparation class; quarterly job club social.
- Maintain positive communication with funding agencies, schools, families, and providers.
- Oversee client assessments to determine client goals, preferences and needs.
Physical Requirements:
- Essential functions of this position require that employees regularly sit, stand, bend, twist and walk.
- Employees may occasionally be required to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
