The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced Senior Software Test Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can drive the quality assurance process for our Software products. This role requires a strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) , with a specific focus on requirements gathering and comprehensive test plan documentation within an FDA regulated environment . This role will report to the Staff DevOps Engineer and will not have any direct reports.
The compensation range for this role is market driven, with a salary range of $130,000 - $180,000. Additionally, we offer a robust benefits package. This offering is aligned with our overall compensation philosophy.

Location: Hybrid (Remote & On-site in San Mateo, CA)
A Day in the Life
- Lead and execute the entire testing process, including creating detailed test plans, test cases, and test reports.
- Participate in risk analysis, verification & validation (V&V) activities for FDA SaMD software applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including product, development, quality, and regulatory affairs) to gather and analyze software requirements.
- Develop and maintain robust automated and manual test suites using languages like Python or Java and test frameworks like Selenium or Cypress to build and maintain end-to-end automation tests.
- Perform cross-browser and cross-platform manual testing for front-end web applications.
- Execute manual functional testing for backend services.
- Perform end-to-end User Acceptance Testing(UAT) as per test plans to validate user flows, functional requirements, and user experience.
- Integrate test automation into continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using Jenkins .
- Serve as a subject matter expert on software quality and compliance, mentoring junior engineers and promoting best practices.
- Analyze test results, document defects, verify bug fixes, and ensure systems meet business requirements.
- Manage defects, track issues, and work with development teams to ensure timely resolution.
- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on product usability and quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software testing, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
- In-depth knowledge of the FDA SaMD approval process and documentation requirements (e.g., design control, risk management).
- Expertise in requirements analysis and translating them into comprehensive test plans and cases.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language ( Python or Java ).
- Hands-on experience with testing frameworks like Selenium or Cypress.
- Experience with build automation tools like Jenkins or services like Playwright.
- Strong understanding of test methodologies (e.g., black box, white box, regression).
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Experience in using project management tools such as Jira and Zephyr
- Strong understanding of agile and waterfall methodology
