Technical Product Manager, Data Protection
We’re in an unbelievably exciting area of tech and are fundamentally reshaping the data storage industry. Here, you lead with innovative thinking, grow along with us, and join the smartest team in the industry.
This type of work—work that changes the world—is what the tech industry was founded on. So, if you're ready to seize the endless opportunities and leave your mark, come join us.
THE ROLE
As a Technical Product Manager for Data Protection, you will lead the evolution of FlashArray and FlashBlade’s backup and recovery ecosystem to ensure Pure’s customers never lose a second of data. You will bridge the gap between complex enterprise workloads and our cutting-edge storage snapshots, replication, and cloud-integrated protection strategies. By collaborating with elite engineering teams and global technology partners, you will define a technical roadmap that turns data resilience into a seamless, high-performance competitive advantage.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Architect the Data Protection Roadmap: Own the end-to-end technical strategy for data protection features, prioritizing feature tradeoffs and requirements that align with modern RPO/RTO demands across hybrid cloud environments.
- Master the Backup Ecosystem: Influence the product roadmaps of strategic technology partners (such as Veeam, Commvault, and Cohesity) to ensure deep, performant integration with Pure’s native protection capabilities.
- Drive Technical Market Intelligence: Conduct deep-dive analysis of data protection workload characteristics and competitive sizing to ensure FlashArray remains the industry benchmark for recovery speed and efficiency.
- Enable Field Engineering Success: Transform complex technical specifications into high-impact SE/Sales enablement tools, architectural guides, and customer-facing presentations that simplify the "Pure story" for global enterprises.
- Lead Cross-Functional Execution: Collaborate with executive leadership to define the scope of multi-year projects, overseeing the full product lifecycle from inception through strategic product line transitions.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Deep Data Protection Domain Expertise: Expert-level understanding of the enterprise backup landscape, including hands-on experience with major applications (Cohesity, Rubrik, Veeam, etc.) and their interaction with cloud-native storage protocols.
- Strategic Technical Leadership: A proven track record of owning product lifecycles and driving results, with the ability to navigate complex release milestones and product line transitions in an agile environment.
- Full-Stack Datacenter Fluency: Broad technical depth across storage solutions, networking, and security, with a specific focus on how data protection workloads impact infrastructure sizing and performance.
- Executive Communication & Influence: Strong executive presence with the ability to synthesize complex technical data into a clear vision, strategy, and execution plan for both engineering teams and customer stakeholders.
- Location: We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Santa Clara, CA office in compliance with Pure’s policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
