Senior Electrical Engineer, Intelligence Systems

We work within the IC to understand their requirements, shape their concepts of operation, and deliver exquisite capability across their problem set. We aim to develop and deploy critically needed capabilities that address our customers’ most pressing national security requirements. ABOUT THE JOB We are looking for a Senior Electrical Product Sustainment Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in Costa Mesa, California. In this role, you will keep our production operations running smoothly once products are in the field and on the line. You will triage product failures, drive root cause investigations to closure through process or design updates, and manage failure and field data to understand population-level impact. You will work cross-functionally with Quality, Supply Chain, and Production Operations to keep builds on plan and surface any issues that threaten the build schedule. Your work directly ensures that the capabilities our customers depend on are delivered reliably and at scale, sustaining fielded systems long after they leave the line. This is a high-impact, hands-on role for an engineer who thrives on solving hard problems quickly and turning production challenges into lasting design and process improvements. WHAT YOU’LL DO Triage product failures from production and the field, prioritizing by severity and population impact Drive root cause investigations down to the electrical component and PCB fabrication level as needed, landing corrective actions as process or design updates Collect, manage, and analyze failure and field data to quantify population-level impact and trends Work cross-functionally with Quality, Supply Chain, and Production Operations to keep builds on plan Surface and escalate issues that threaten the build schedule, and drive them to resolution Implement design and process changes that improve yield, reliability, and manufacturability Evaluate supplier product change notifications (PCNs) and assess their impact to the production environment, partnering with the design team to update the design as needed Support production test, debug, and failure analysis at the board and system level Track and report on sustainment metrics, corrective action status, and open production issues Work in a fast-paced environment, having to juggle multiple concurrent projects and customers REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Currently possesses and is able to maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance 8+ years of professional experience in hardware product development, sustainment, or manufacturing engineering Experience with root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methods (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, fishbone, FMEA) Deep understanding of fabrication and assembly-level failure analysis methods, including CT scan, X-ray, visual inspection, cross-sectioning, and SEM image analysis Ability to read and interpret schematics and apply best practices appropriate for each design Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, and USB Proficiency with data analysis tools to track failure trends and quantify population impact (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python, JMP) Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits Ability to determine work priorities based on broad direction from management Experience working cross-functionally with Quality, Supply Chain, and Production Operations in a manufacturing environment PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Understanding of MIL-STD-810 and relevant military environmental qualification standards Understanding of MIL-STD-461 and relevant military electromagnetic compatibility standards Experience with PLM/ERP systems and managing engineering change orders (ECOs) Familiarity with production quality systems, CAPA processes, and statistical process control (SPC) US Salary Range$146,000—$194,000 USDThe salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
