Associate Satellite Controller

As an Intelsat Associate Satellite Controller, you will be a member of a team that performs satellite operations in a control center providing 24/7 support for a fleet of spacecraft following Intelsat and Space Systems Engineering and Operations (SSEO) policies and procedures. With guidance and supervision from senior controllers and more experienced teammates, you will support and perform activities scheduled in the daily activity plan, monitor telemetry, and execute spacecraft commands and procedures for the Intelsat satellite fleet. You will also partner with more experienced controllers to monitor the performance of the Telemetry, Tracking, Commanding (TTC) system infrastructure and configure it to respond to scheduled activities, detected failures and non-nominal configurations. You will assist at providing a technical interface for SSEO staff and other departments, operating and managing the daily functions of the TTC network and operating and maintaining Satellite Control equipment.

- Study, learn, and train to develop intimate knowledge of geostationary communication spacecraft design, ground operating systems and operations infrastructure
- Perform as a satellite controller, assist in monitoring all Intelsat and third-party satellites including ground assets for proper operation, and respond to satellite and network alarms
- Operate Satellite and ground systems according to established procedures
- Execute commands (both scheduled and non-scheduled) on satellites as required
- Assist as a technical interface with the responsibility of being a conduit between engineering staff and satellite control staff to ensure controllers are keenly aware of nominal and non-nominal configurations
- Participate in identifying inconsistencies for correcting procedures on nominal and non-nominal configurations
- Participate and assist with troubleshooting of all Real-Time Ground Systems operated at the assigned Satellite Operations Center
- Execute directed activities of the Telemetry, Tracking, Commanding & Monitoring (TTC&M) Network assuring ground support coordination between off-line activities, controllers, and satellite operations
- Perform Transfer Orbit Support Services operations including staffing console and providing interface to customer
- Participate in a "ready response" role 24x7x365 providing support to Satellite Operations
- Assist to assure operations products/documents/procedures and infrastructure reflect the current scope of operations and are clearly defined to all operators
- Develop proficiency performing daily Satellite Operations tasks and troubleshooting TTC&M infrastructure troubleshooting actions through off-line or simulator training and during on-the-job training
- Perform routine performance checks on specified software and processes
- Must be available to work 12-hour rotating shifts, able to work weekends and major holidays, and able to work shift duringon-call support periods as needed
- Participate in daily shift briefings
- Participate in all scheduled training sessions and stay current with personal training and development
- Responsible for performing range activities, scheduling range, ensuring range collection, and troubleshooting range anomalies
- Maintain a record of all Satellite Operations and TTC&M Network activities in the daily log and participate in the operations meeting
- Review and provide pertinent feedback for documentation updates/changes, policies, methodologies, and processes related to the Satellite Operations
You should definitely have:
- Must have at least some work experience, prefer an Associates or technical degree or working towards one
- Must be able to work under pressure and be able to work as a team player in stressful situations.
- Must possess good English communications skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work with diverse, multi-cultural, multi-lingual customers and teams
- Ability to work independently and be self-directed
- Ability to prioritize, multitask and organize daily
- May require some limited travel
- Proven ability to multitask
- Ability to be a team player
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts on days and nights, weekends, and holidays as required, as well as work rotating shifts
- Ability to be on-call including returning to work off-hours, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
- This role is subject to ITAR/EAR; candidates must be a US Person (this includes US Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Individual such as an asylee or refugee)
