Sit down Forklift Operator - 2nd Shift

Connect Staffing is hiring a Sit-Down Forklift Operator for a lumberyard and building materials supplier in Riverside, CA. This is a temp-to-hire evening position paying $23.63/hr, with approximately 8 hours of overtime per week. In this role, you will operate a sit-down forklift to move completed lumber loads throughout an outdoor yard, picking up finished bundles from load builders and staging them for delivery. Training runs on day shift for 1–2 weeks before transitioning to the regular evening schedule.

Pay: $23.63/hr

Schedule: Mon–Sat 2:30 PM–11:00 PM; training on 1st shift 6:00 AM–2:30 PM for 1–2 weeks

Responsibilities

• Operate a sit-down forklift to pick up completed lumber bundles from load builders and move them throughout the outdoor yard.
• Stage and position lumber loads in designated areas for delivery.
• Band and tag completed loads for shipment using banding tools.
• Catch lumber coming off the quick chop saw and re-stack it in designated areas.
• Inspect lumber for defects, splits, or damage and set aside non-conforming material.
• Sweep work area and separate returned work orders as directed.

Minimum Requirements

• 5+ year of forklift operation experience in a warehouse, yard, or heavy production environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating a forklift in an outdoor yard or lumberyard environment.
• Familiarity with banding tools and load-securing equipment.
• Experience working in a lumber yard or building materials facility.
• Experience working alongside saw operators or in a cut-to-order production flow.
• Experience building or strapping lumber loads or similar bundled material loads.
• Ability to read work orders and complete basic production paperwork.

Pre-Employment Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently.
• Ability to work at a fast pace throughout the shift.
• Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, crouch, push, and pull throughout the shift.
• Steel-toe boots required (employee-provided).
• Must communicate effectively in English.
• Good standing Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) required.
• Drug screen required.
• Background check required.
• E-Verify / work authorization required.
