As a Staff Software Engineer , you will build tools that make a difference for people and the planet. You will build systems that turn climate data and models into outputs that help people and organizations act with confidence. Whether it is a risk dashboard for a global supply chain or a yield forecast for a farm halfway around the world, your work will blend technical solutions with real-world impact.
We combine the latest advancements in transformer-based AI, geospatial data processing, machine learning, and agronomic process-based models to simplify decision-making for our customers. We’re looking for experienced engineers with a strong foundation in building and shipping software—and a desire to push their skills further in these areas.
You’ll collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, climate scientists, researchers, and product leaders who share a strong sense of urgency and purpose.
We are growing our in-person presence at our new San Francisco, CA office and are looking for engineers excited to build things.

At ClimateAi, we value engineers who bring depth in their craft and curiosity beyond it. As a Staff Software Engineer– Fullstack , you will play a key role in shaping both the systems we build and the teams that build them. You will help guide product direction, mentor other engineers, and contribute to cross-functional efforts that span across the organization.
This role blends hands-on development with technical leadership. You will work across the stack, from backend services to frontend interfaces, while collaborating with data scientists, designers, and domain experts to ensure our platforms are scalable, resilient, and easy to build on. We are looking for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, elevating the work of others, and building technology with real-world impact.
Desired Background
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including time in a senior or staff-level role
- Proven ability to design and scale complex, distributed systems
- Fullstack development experience across backend (e.g., Python, Go, Node.js) and frontend technologies (e.g., React, TypeScript)
- Strong architectural thinking and long-term system design skills
- Experience leading cross-functional projects and setting technical direction
- Track record of mentoring and leveling up other engineers
- Clear communicator who can align technical decisions with product goals
- Bonus (not required):
- Familiarity with climate data, geospatial systems, or AI/ML integration
- Experience in an early stage start up
Compensation
The base compensation range for employees based in the US is $150,000-240,000 and equity in line with experience and company stage. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at ClimateAi and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, business need and US location.
