Automotive Test Cell Controls Engineer

• Maintain and refactor legacy applications for data acquisition and control of automotive dynamometers.
• Design and program new modules and applications utilizing LabVIEW
• Interface with custom engineering in developing testing applications with EV focus.
• Creating custom CAN/LIN/FlexRay protocol gateways between MRE software platform and customer UUTs
• Create scripts in Vector CAPL and ICS Vehicle spy to simulate vehicle environment required for testing
• Proactively work during the quoting process to identify required equipment and support for new projects
• Interact with customers for requirements specifications. 

Develop software utilizing the following components:

• Windows Based- HMIs
• Real-time computers running a RTOS
• Instrumentation
• PLCs

Develop software using the following communication protocols:

• EtherCAT
• RS-232 RS-485 Modbus Profibus
• CAN FlexRay TCP/IP UDP

• Interact with customers for troubleshooting and debugging software electrical and mechanical problems.
• Interact with customers for requirements specifications.
• Work in an office and facility environment
• Test stand equipment includes real-time data acquisition and control system conditioning systems for coolant fuel oil and combustion air dynamometers PID controllers throttle actuators and engine mounting hardware
• Assist in supporting the UTAC culture and values (Integrity Expertise and Innovation).        

Qualifications :

Education and Skill Requirements:

• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of relevant work experience in the automotive industry required.
• 5 years of leadership experience preferred.
• 3-5 years experience working with cross functional teams preferred.
• Fluency in the English language is required.
• Demonstrated record of driving results.
• Strong problem solving strategic thinking and analytical skills required.
• Manage human and material resources to meet targets.
• Able to relay technical information in a way your audience understands.
• Aptitude to develop a High-Performance Team environment.
• Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
• Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits working the hours necessary to perform the job.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees customers and suppliers.
• Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications and the ability to become proficient any systems that we use (Concur Kronos etc.).
• Flexibility to support service activity both off-site and outside of normal working hours.
• Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area.
• Working knowledge of the automotive industry preferred.
• Experience in the vehicle testing and validation industry preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Strong time management multi-tasking and organization skills.
• Able to function as part of a team with members of varying job levels and work cooperatively toward team goals.
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees customers and suppliers.
• Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area.
• High level of financial literacy required.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Experience navigating difficult conversations to reach the desired outcome.
• Valid drivers license and reliable vehicle for traveling between multiple work sites as needed.
• Valid passport and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
• Required on-site work as needed per our Remote Work Policy.
• Give and accept instructions and tasks in a positive manner treating all co-workers with dignity and respect.
• Consistently adhere to and support all UTAC policies procedures and safety regulations.

Physical Demands:

• Exposure to industry accepted chemicals and noise. 
• Regularly required to stand reach bend and move about the facility.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Able to lift and/or move materials as needed in the performance of assigned duties.
• Requirements include but are not limited to stand walk sit twist bed life see speak hear.
• May require occasional travel (locally nationally internationally).
