Our 120-person team of creatives, strategists, and innovators produces thousands of high-impact campaigns weekly for the world’s leading lifestyle, fashion, beauty, and DTC brands. With 50,000 sq. ft. of DTLA studios and a global influencer network, we’re ready to 10x our output in 2025—and we need a hands-on Director to lead our on-set productions and translate creative concepts into high-performance video.

On-set storytelling, creative execution, and visual mastery are your playground. As a Director, you are the lead creative voice on set, the bridge between the approved concept and the captured footage. You will be responsible for leading crews and directing talent for a high volume of in-studio shoots, ensuring every shot is visually stunning and optimized to perform.

What You’ll Do
- Lead On-Set Creative
Direct a high volume of in-studio shoots, serving as the primary creative decision-maker on set.
Lead and inspire on-set crews (DPs, gaffers, grips) to execute the visual strategy.
Translate creative briefs, storyboards, and shot lists into dynamic, captured footage.
- Direct Talent
Guide and direct a wide range of talent, from professional actors and models to influencers and real-person testimonials.
Pull authentic, energetic, and brand-appropriate performances that resonate with social and TV audiences.
- Collaborate in Pre-Production
Work closely with Art Directors, Producers, and Strategists to understand campaign goals.
Provide expert creative and technical input on shot lists, casting, lighting, and camera plans to ensure flawless execution.
- Ensure Visual & Technical Excellence
Partner with the Director of Photography (DP) to ensure all footage meets High Scale’s high standards for quality, lighting, and composition.
Ensure all necessary coverage is captured to give the post-production team maximum flexibility.
- Optimize for Performance
Understand the nuances of directing for performance, with a keen eye for "the hook" and the shots that drive results.
Adapt shooting styles to be native for multiple platforms (e.g., 9:16 for TikTok, 16:9 for TV).
Who You Are
- A Proven Commercial Director
5-8+ years of experience as a Director in a fast-paced commercial, agency, or brand environment.
A strong reel showcasing a high volume of beautifully shot, effective DTC, beauty, fashion, or lifestyle content.
- An On-Set Leader
You are the undisputed creative leader on set. You command a crew, direct talent, and solve problems with a calm, confident, and collaborative presence.
- A Master Visual Storyteller
Expert understanding of cinematography, lighting, composition, and performance.
You have a meticulous eye for detail and a strong aesthetic sensibility.
- Collaborative & Adaptable
Thrive in fast-paced, high-growth, high-volume production environments.
You can take a creative brief and elevate it, working seamlessly with Art Directors, Producers, and internal teams.
- Data-Informed
You understand this is advertising, not just art. You are obsessed with getting the shot that works , stops the scroll, and drives results.
