Field Director
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Field Director for a direct hire opportunity in Pasadena, CA, supporting internal organizing, representation, campaign strategy, and member engagement within the government and public sector space. This role is ideal for a seasoned union organizing professional who is passionate about advancing social and economic justice while leading high-impact field initiatives. The Field Director will guide strategic organizing campaigns, mentor field staff, strengthen workplace leadership structures, and help drive membership growth and engagement. Key Responsibilities - Develop and implement strategic field plans that support internal organizing, member engagement, contract enforcement, and campaign goals.- Lead, mentor, and support Representatives/Internal Organizers through coaching, training, performance guidance, and campaign execution.
- Facilitate trainings, workshops, leadership development programs, and steward development initiatives to strengthen member participation.
- Support workplace actions, grievance preparation, representation activities, and issue-based organizing efforts.
- Partner with leadership teams to advance membership growth, engagement strategies, and organizational priorities.
- Manage multiple organizing campaigns, field initiatives, and staff priorities while maintaining strong communication and accountability. Compensation and Benefits - Salary range: $100,000 to $120,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Lead strategic internal organizing campaigns and member engagement initiatives.- Oversee field staff, internal organizers, and workplace leadership development efforts.
- Support contract enforcement, grievance activity, workplace actions, and campaign implementation.
- Partner with leadership to execute field plans and achieve membership growth goals. - Minimum of 10 years of internal organizing and representation experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in campaign planning, organizing strategy, and staff mentorship.
- Strong knowledge of union organizing, representation, contract enforcement, grievance support, and workplace campaign development.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop organizing staff and member leaders.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, training, and relationship-building skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities, campaigns, deadlines, and stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and organizing-related technology.
- Adaptable, collaborative, and committed to advancing social and economic justice.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required. Preferred Qualifications - Experience working within government, public sector, labor, nonprofit, advocacy, or member-driven organizations.
- Background developing stewards, member leaders, and workplace committees.
- Experience facilitating large and small group trainings, workshops, and campaign planning sessions.
- Strong understanding of membership growth strategies, leadership pipelines, and issue-based organizing.
