Senior Caregiver
Experienced caregiver sought for 79-y.o. woman with a neuromuscular disorder (weight: 80 lbs.). Caregiver would be responsible for personal care (dressing, bathing, toileting), ADLs, range of motion exercises, strength training, hygiene, administering health treatments (nebulizer, cough assist), companionship, and ensuring mental wellbeing and physical safety. Person has limited movement of hands, torso, limbs, and limited speech output. She communicates using eyebrows, eyelids, pointing, and sometimes speaking. She is on a feeding tube and receives daily respiratory therapy. Because she is an aspiration risk, she can never be at less than 45-degree angle, even during diaper changes and dressing. Person has urinary incontinence, and uses a wicking catheter at night. She rarely has bowel incontinence and uses a commode. This person lives in an apartment that was formerly a board-and-care, with a roll-in shower, and grab bars throughout the unit. The apartment is on Ballena Bay, a protected area of the San Francisco Bay, and has lovely floor to ceiling views of the harbor and SF Bay. There is ample street parking within 1-2 blocks of the unit. The person follows a regular daily schedule of personal hygiene, respiratory therapy, physical therapy and social interaction.
