SPED Academic Tutor - Functional Academics & SEL Support

About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Foster City, CA

Details:

• In-Person Tutoring in Foster City, CA
• Schedule: 20 hours, 3 sessions a week to start for 1.15hrs to add another day to 4x a week for 1hr15mins
• Pay range is between $25 and $35

Ideal Candidate:

• Experienced tutor with a strong background in supporting adults or young adults with Autism and special needs.
• Skilled in functional academic instruction across ELA and Math for adult learners or high school–level students.
• Knowledgeable in social-emotional learning (SEL), communication support, and self-regulation strategies.
• Patient, structured, and able to adapt instruction to meet the adult student’s unique learning style and expressive language needs.
• Able to use engaging, motivating activities to maintain attention and participation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized instruction in functional ELA skills, comprehension across content areas, and communication support.
• Teach functional math skills and problem-solving aligned with high school–level concepts.
• Incorporate social-emotional learning strategies to support engagement, communication, and self-regulation.
• Integrate student interests, such as music, games, swimming, and food-related activities, into lessons to maintain motivation.
• Conduct an assessment to determine current academic levels and tailor instruction accordingly.
