Job Description and Duties
Do you want to work in a beautiful location providing service to your community? Are you handy with tools and interested in fisheries and natural resources? This position could be just right for you! This position will provide general care and maintenance to Mad River Hatchery facility and grounds. Duties consist of mowing lawns, raking leaves, weed removal, trimming shrubs, trees and bushes, building maintenance and service, cleaning buildings and public bathrooms, dispose of garbage, management of front gate operation, sprinkler system deployment and maintenance, minor maintenance to on-site residence. In addition to maintaining a local gem of a river access, you will engage with Coastal Fisheries staff and get the opportunity to learn fisheries management field techniques.

The Fish and Wildlife Seasonal Aid classification is a non-testing classification.

Working Conditions
Incumbent will be required to stand, walk and/or operate lawn care equipment for long periods of time in both hot and cold weather, and in extreme weather conditions. Willingness to work unusual hours and on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays; willingness to perform varied manual tasks; willingness to wear a prescribed uniform. Possession of a valid Driver’s License is required to operate State vehicles. State owned housing is not available and is not required as a condition of employment.
Special Requirements
Physical strength and agility; ability to lift 40 pounds; ability to swim 50 yards and stay afloat at least five (5) minutes.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
Friendly, hard working with interest in, and aptitude for fish and wildlife conservation.
Experience operating and maintaining lawn and garden equipment.Experience operating large or small tractors.
Ability to amicably interact with the public.
Good driving record and education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
Experience using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and/or other software.
