Director of Power Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Energy Storage
- Lead and execute the electrical system design and development of a high-volume, high-power energy conversion product from concept to deployment, including electrical architecture, requirements authoring, system integration, signal-level electronics design, power electronics design, and integration with grid infrastructure.
- Design power conversion products, supervisory control modules and balance of system components, working closely with suppliers and vendors to ensure cost-effective, high-quality solutions
- Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and systems engineers to ensure seamless integration of the overall product
- Be a hands-on engineering manager, accountable for project goals and timelines
- Take a leadership role in recruiting, mentoring, and managing a high-performance electrical engineering team
- Stay up to date on industry advancements and best practices, ensuring that our designs are at the forefront of technology and compliant with relevant standards
- Contribute to a collaborative, fast-paced startup culture, where every team member plays a crucial role in achieving company milestones
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus in power conversion or energy storage products, ideally for mass production.
- Experience in high-voltage (400-2000VDC, and 480VAC) design
- Proven track record as a senior electrical engineer, with hands-on design, prototyping, and launch experience in medium-to-high volume production (10,000 units/yr or higher)
- Able to perform detailed schematic capture in Altium or related CAD software
- Able to supervise (and occasionally perform) detailed layout of high-power electronics PCBs in Altium or related CAD software
- Experience in the development of tools, infrastructure and design practices for a growing team
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with all levels of the organization and presenting to internal and external executives
- Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards
- Environment, such as office or outdoors.
- Ability to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods of time.
- Essential physical requirements, such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing.
- Occasional work weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job.
- Occasional travel requirements.
