Locomotive Final Assembly Technician

A day in the life
As a Locomotive Final Assembly Technician in our Final Assembly Locomotive and Sub-Assembly areas, you’ll bring vehicles to life on a fast-paced production line:
- Fit and assemble roofs, cable harnesses, mounted parts, electrical racks and panels, air supply racks, and complex piping assemblies.
- Route, install, and terminate both low- and high-voltage connections inside and outside the locomotive.
- Measure, cut, and install copper and stainless-steel pipe for plumbing fixtures; complete stainless and copper connections.
- Install windshields to precise specifications.
- Disassemble, modify, rework, refurbish, and reassemble components as needed to meet engineering and quality requirements.
- Apply knowledge of diverse processes, operations, and equipment to solve problems on the line.
- Interpret production blueprints/diagrams, follow parts and wire lists, and work from clear verbal instructions.
What you’ll bring
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year in manufacturing or a closely related hands-on environment.
- Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to read schematics and blueprints.
- Experience with low- and high-voltage systems, such as: automotive/engine mechanics, electrician work, alarm systems, or lineman experience.
- Background in plumbing, HVAC, sprinkler systems, or compressed air lines is a plus.
- Confident and safe use of hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic equipment.

The physical demands described here are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential job duties:
- Frequently walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Climb stairs, steps, and ladders; work from elevated platforms.
- Perform overhead work.
- Occasionally lift and move up to 40 pounds.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Compensation and location
This position is located in Sacramento, CA. The hourly rate is $20.00 per hour. Second shift includes a 10% shift differential. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
