Founding Software Engineer

Our client has developed an AI phone agent that excels in conducting open-ended sales conversations, offering better conversion rates than many human call center agents. What is the role?
This is a high-growth, hands-on technical leadership role. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the founders to continuously re-think and re-design the company’s backend services, enabling the platform to scale to millions of daily phone calls. They will also lead technical projects, contribute to hiring, and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities:
- Design and build scalable backend infrastructure to support real-time communication.
- Create and maintain public APIs for use by partners.
- Develop integrations with third-party software such as CRMs, calendars, and custom APIs.
- Collaborate with backend engineers to enhance the real-time communication platform.
- Lead and mentor a team of junior engineers.
- Partner with the DevOps team to identify optimal deployment and scaling strategies.
- Support frontend engineers in building user-facing web applications.
- Work with machine learning engineers to integrate proprietary AI features.
Qualifications:
- 8–10 years of experience in backend system design.
- Expertise in building high-QPS public APIs.
- Experience at growth-stage startups (Seed+ or Series A+).
- Mastery of either Go or Python.
- Exceptional technical communication skills.
