The California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR) is seeking a Chief of Case Records Services to join our leadership team!
This is a high-profile position, responsible for the overall administration of the Department's statewide Correctional Case Records Services. The Chief of Case Records Services has extensive knowledge of case records laws, codes, and regulations and maintains a high level of confidentiality in day-to-day duties.
This is the perfect opportunity for a candidate who wants to be involved in change! This position requires the utmost professionalism, as the incumbent will consult with and advise the Governor's Office and CDCR's Office of the Secretary. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to articulate detailed information regarding the application of case records laws and regulations with regards to incarcerated individual sentencing. Working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment is part of the job, but the Chief has the unique opportunity to bring a new perspective and effect change within the Case Records Program! In this role, you must thrive under pressure as you help advance the Department's oversight of Correctional Case Records Services.

Working Conditions
About the location – The HQ for this position will be at the Aerojet location in Rancho Cordova.
The office is located at Aerojet and has free parking. Aerojet is located near the Folsom Lake auto dealerships in Rancho Cordova, close to US Highway 50 and the Hazel light rail station. We are minutes from historic Sutter Street, the Folsom Premium Outlets, and many dining establishments.
This position is office-centered and will be required to report to the office a minimum of four days per week. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment. Travel to off-site meetings may be required.
Special Requirements
Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If you are meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, you should include your unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification. Official transcripts may be required upon appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, as well as a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Experience in and the demonstrated ability to manage a comprehensive program for a large multi-faceted agency or organization, which demonstrates planning, organizing, directing, or coordinating complex programs, and accurately interpreting incarcerated/supervised person sentencing laws.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems and recommend effective courses of action; make independent, sound, ethical decisions regarding highly sensitive matters; and maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and experience in representing the Department with various stakeholders such as court judges, district attorneys, the Attorney General's Office, Legislators, Department of Justice, the Governor's Office, Board of Parole Hearings and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
- Experience in personnel management and supervision with the demonstrated ability to motivate staff and manage large groups; and knowledge of the manager's role in providing equal employment opportunity in the workplace.

Statement of Qualification (SOQ) Examination Instructions

- The SOQ must not be more than three (3) pages in length, typed, single-spaced, using 12-point Arial font.
