CNC Mill‑Turn Machinist — Mazak/Fanuc/Siemens Controls

Your day, at a glance

You start by pulling up aerospace blueprints, translating tolerances and dimensions into a plan of attack. You prep a mill‑turn cell, dialing in offsets on Mazak, Fanuc, or Siemens controls and confirming the setup on equipment such as Mazak Integrex or WFL machines. First Article (FA) inspection comes next—micrometers, calipers, and other gauges in hand—so you can verify the process and lock in tooling, workholding, and NC code.

With the FA approved, you document the setup, update the ERP with time and job details, and optimize the production program for throughput and quality. You run 3–5 axis work on VMCs (Fanuc/Mazak), monitor tool wear, and make precise edits to the code as needed. You keep the area tight to 5S standards, communicate with production control, engineering, quality, and your supervisor, and flag any maintenance needs before they impact schedule. As the resident SME, you also mentor teammates on best practices, fixtures, and efficient changeovers.

What you'll own

• Reading and interpreting aerospace drawings to determine features, tolerances, and process steps
• Setting up and operating mill‑turn equipment using Mazak, Fanuc, and Siemens controls (e.g., Mazak, Integrex, WFL)
• Running CNC VMCs (3–4 axis and 5+ axis) with Fanuc and Mazak controls
• Conducting FA inspections with mechanical measurement tools and recording results
• Tuning NC programs and making on‑the‑fly adjustments to achieve capability and repeatability
• Completing inspection reports and documenting critical quality information
• Performing preventive maintenance and ensuring machines are production‑ready
• Collaborating with programmers to refine setups, tooling, and fixturing
• Documenting tool and machine setups following FA approval
• Maintaining a safe work environment, adhering to PPE and all safety guidelines
• Tracking work and time in the ERP system
• Training coworkers and serving as a subject matter expert
• Keeping a neat, organized workstation that meets 5S requirements
• Escalating equipment issues to the Production Supervisor

What you bring

• 3–5 years of hands‑on CNC mill‑turn experience
• High school diploma or GED
• Fluency in troubleshooting, CNC programming edits, and production setups
• Strong shop math and blueprint reading
