Ready to showcase your litigation skills? Join an experienced team of attorneys delivering superior outcomes for California’s injured workers and the employers we serve. Be part of our Legal team and make a meaningful impact.

State Fund’s Rohnert Park and San Francisco Legal offices are seeking motivated litigators at the Attorney III or Attorney level to join our team. Positions are available in both the Rohnert Park and San Francisco offices.

At State Fund, we represent insured employers and State agencies and handle complex workers' compensation-related issues.

In this role, you will make a real impact by managing, litigating, and resolving cases in depositions, administrative hearings, and court proceedings, while supporting the fair and timely delivery of benefits to injured workers.

Who We Are Looking For:

We are seeking attorneys with experience in California Workers’ Compensation law, as well as those with experience in litigation and other Administrative Law forums. While our primary focus is on experienced candidates, newly admitted attorneys and those with little or no Workers’ Compensation background are also encouraged to apply for an opportunity to join our team. We value diversity and inclusion, and welcome candidates from all backgrounds.

Location:

The Rohnert Park and San Francisco Legal units appear before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) district offices throughout Northern California. Attorneys in these units primarily appear at the Sonoma, Oakland and San Francisco WCAB locations. The successful candidate may be required to appear at other WCAB offices and locations as needed.

To facilitate local in-person hearings, we seek candidates located within Alameda, Sonoma, Sacramento, and San Francisco counties, or counties nearby. Reimbursement for authorized travel will be provided within the allowable mile radius.

Your Role:

As a vital member of our team, you'll enjoy a diverse and fulfilling role. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with internal and external clients
  • Drafting pleadings, correspondence, and other legal documents
  • Conducting discovery and supporting case development
  • Participating in settlement discussions and negotiations
  • Making frequent court appearances at the Workers Compensation Appeals Board, including trials

Working Conditions

To be considered, you must provide a fully completed STD 678 state applica tion, resume, and statement of qualifications via CalC areers. Resumes submitted in lieu of the STD 678 may not be accepted. Completed STD 678 must include duties performed, start and end dates, and hours worked per week for each position held.

Selected candidate(s) hired may be required to attend in-person Onboarding at our Vacaville office with expenses for attendance paid by State Fund.

Candidates must reside in California to be eligible for this appointment.
