Director of Sales
The Director of Sales is responsible for driving maximum revenue and profitability to achieve hotel goals and targets. This leadership role focuses on developing and executing strategic sales and marketing initiatives, securing corporate, SMERF, LNR, and event business, and collaborating closely with revenue management and hotel leadership to optimize occupancy and rates.
The Director of Sales will lead proactive prospecting efforts, negotiate contracts, manage key accounts, and mentor sales team members while working in close partnership with the General Manager and Operations team to ensure exceptional guest experiences and strong financial performance. The ideal candidate is results-driven, highly organized, and experienced in hotel sales strategy, negotiations, and account management.
What You’ll Do
Drive revenue growth by achieving budgeted goals for rooms, catering, and events through proactive sales strategies and market engagement
Develop and execute comprehensive sales and marketing plans to exceed revenue and occupancy targets
Secure corporate, SMERF, LNR, and event business through prospecting, relationship-building, and strategic negotiations
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, travel partners, and meeting planners to generate repeat and new business
Analyze market trends, competitive data, and demand forecasts to adjust pricing and sales strategies
Manage and grow key accounts to maximize long-term partnerships and revenue opportunities
Negotiate contracts, rates, and function space to ensure profitability and compliance with hotel policies
Mentor and support sales team members, providing leadership, coaching, and accountability
Collaborate closely with the General Manager, Revenue Management, and Operations to align sales strategies with hotel goals
Ensure seamless delivery of contracted services and high client satisfaction
Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales reports and participate in budgeting and forecasting
Participate in the Manager on Duty (MOD) program and occasional evening/weekend responsibilities as needed
Represent the hotel in the local market and industry events to strengthen brand presence
About You:
Proven experience as a Director of Sales or strong Senior Sales Manager in a hotel environment
Track record of meeting or exceeding revenue and sales targets
Experience securing corporate, group, and event business across multiple market segments
Strong negotiation, closing, and account management skills
Experience with Marriott systems and brand standards preferred
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Relationship-driven sales leader with excellent communication and presentation skills
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to travel as needed and work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences
