STATE PARK SUPERINTENDENT II – LAW ENFORCEMENT AND EMERGENCY SERVICES DIVISION / TELECOMMUNICATIONS / SOUTHERN COMMUNICATIONS CENTER (SURCOM)

The reporting location for this position is the Southern Communication Center (SURCOM), located at Lake Perris SRA in Perris, CA. This position will work under the general direction of the State Park Superintendent III.

The position is responsible for managing, organizing, coordinating, planning, directing, and evaluating the operation, maintenance, and administration of the Southern Communications Center (SURCOM). SURCOM provides 24-hour public safety/law enforcement dispatch services for all Districts, the Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Law Enforcement Division, Mountain Recreation Conservation Authority, and several other agencies in the SURCOM service area. SURCOM may also function as an emergency operations command center (EOCC) and may be a coordination point for the Department’s COOP/COG. The position directly supervises the employees assigned to SURCOM and may be responsible for serious incident notification processing, DOJ/CLETS compliance and audits, and indirect supervision assistance of field units as required.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961 , this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962

Special Requirements
