Job Description and Duties
**Limited Term for 12 months, may be extended up to 24 months and/or may become permanent.**
Under the direction of the Deputy Labor Commissioner Regional Manager (DLC Regional Manager/Regional Manager) in the Wage Claim Adjudication (WCA) unit, the Deputy Labor Commissioner Supervisor (DLC Supervisor/Senior Deputy) is responsible for supervising, planning, organizing, and reviewing the work of team members as well as offering ongoing training and education. In addition, the DLC Supervisor collaborates with other programs and stakeholders to promote education and access for the public and bring forth labor law enforcement awareness.
This position requires exceptional skill in dealing with the public and in coordinating the activity of various field offices, in coordination with other programs and/or stakeholders in order to effectively and productively advance the Labor Commissioner’s Office mission statement and vision. Additionally, this position requires excellent time management, organizational, mathematical, and analytical skills with attention to details.

Department Information
The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) was established in 1927. Its mission is to improve working conditions for California's wage earners and to advance opportunities for profitable employment in California. DIR administers and enforces laws governing wages, workplace safety and health, apprenticeship training programs, and medical care and other benefits for injured workers.

Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft applications is preferred.

Deputy Labor Commissioners are covered by the Unit 2 Memorandum of Understanding and are represented in bargaining by the California Attorneys, Administrative Law Judges and Hearing Officers in State Employment (CASE).
