Program Director
Position Summary
The Program Director provides strategic leadership, oversight, and accountability for all programmatic functions at South Central LAMP. This role ensures high-quality implementation of children’s and adult education programs, compliance with funding and regulatory requirements, achievement of measurable outcomes, and alignment with the organization’s mission and strategic plan.
The Program Director serves as a senior leader and strategic partner to the Executive Director, strengthening organizational infrastructure, program integration, and long-term sustainability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
· Develop and implement a multi-year program strategy aligned with the organization’s mission and strategic plan.
· Identify opportunities for program expansion, innovation, and funding growth.
· Ensure cohesive integration between children’s and adult education programs, reinforcing the family literacy model.
Supervision and Staff Leadership
· Provide direct supervision, coaching, evaluation, and professional development to program managers.
· Hold managers accountable for performance metrics, enrollment targets, staff supervision, and program quality.
· Exercise authority to hire, discipline, and terminate program management staff in accordance with agency policies and California employment law.
· Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-driven leadership culture.
Program Quality and Outcomes
· Establish and monitor program-wide performance indicators and evaluation systems.
· Analyze program data to drive continuous quality improvement and informed decision-making.
· Ensure fidelity to family literacy and program integration models across all services.
Budget and Financial Oversight
· Oversee consolidated program budgets in collaboration with the Executive Director and Finance Consultant.
· Monitor financial performance, enrollment trends, and grant expenditures.
· Ensure fiscal responsibility and alignment with funding requirements and organizational goals.
Compliance and Risk Management
· Ensure systems and protocols are in place for compliance with licensing, CSPP, CACFP, ESL, grant requirements, and other applicable regulations.
· Oversee timely, accurate reporting to funders and regulatory agencies.
· Maintain audit readiness and strong internal controls across all programs.
Operations and Administrative Leadership
· Develop, implement, and maintain program operations systems, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
· Oversee program scheduling, staffing structures, and service delivery logistics to ensure efficient daily operations.
· Partner with HR and leadership to support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of high-quality program staff.
· Ensure effective use of data systems for attendance, enrollment, outcomes tracking, and compliance reporting.
· Identify operational gaps and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
· Coordinate cross-departmental communication to ensure alignment between programs, administration, and leadership.
· Oversee facilities-related program needs in collaboration with facility staff (classroom use, materials, safety protocols).
· Ensure all program documentation, files, and records are maintained in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards
Requirements
Qualifications
Education and Experience
· Master’s Degree in education, nonprofit management, social work, public administration, or related field preferred.
· Bachelor’s Degree required.
· Minimum of five (5) years of progressive nonprofit leadership experience, including direct supervision of staff.
· Demonstrated experience overseeing multiple programs and budgets.
Skills and Competencies
· Strong strategic planning and organizational leadership skills.
· Demonstrated experience supervising and developing managers.
· Knowledge of early childhood education, adult education, and family literacy models.
· Strong financial literacy and budget oversight experience.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Cultural competency and experience serving diverse communities.
Benefits
Work Schedule
Full-time, Monday–Friday, with occasional evening and weekend commitments as required.
