Job Description and Duties

ASSOCIATE MANAGEMENT AUDITOR – AUDITS OFFICE / INTERNAL AUDITS UNIT / HEADQUARTERS

The Department of Parks and Recreation Audits Office seeks to hire a qualified and motivated Associate Management Auditor (AMA). The reporting location for this position is 715 P, Sacramento, CA 95814. Staff Services Management Auditor will also be considered for recruitment purposes.

This position will work under the general supervision of the Senior Management Auditor a nd independently perform the more difficult or complex internal operational audits of bond funded grants awarded to governmental and non-profit organizations, other engagements, and audit activities, and may act as a lead to an audit team providing general direction to ensure that objectives are achieved.

The incumbent must exercise good judgment working independently or in a team environment. This position requires direct contact with management representatives and management of grant recipients on a routine basis, which requires the incumbent to exercise good judgement, and maintain professional demeanor. The incumbent must have knowledge of accounting and auditing principles, standards, and practices; research and information gathering techniques; function, organization, and practices of California government. An understanding of the International Professional Practices Framework promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA); Government Auditing Standards; and other standards of the profession is required. The incumbent must have the ability to apply the standards within the form and format prescribed by the Audits Office and requires the ability to use word processing and spreadsheet software.

This position is designated as telework eligible remote centered.

This position is a Designated Position per the Conflict-of-Interest Code and is required to complete and submit a Form 700, Statement of Economic Interest annually, upon assuming office and when leaving office.

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

Working Conditions

This position requires travel to and from the engagement entity as needed, including occasional overnight stays. The incumbents will work in an open-space environment and able to tolerate prolonged periods of standing, bending, and sitting.

Proficiency with communications-related technologies, including personal computer applications, Microsoft Office, Internet, research and information gathering, and email, etc. General knowledge of accounting and auditing principal, standards, and practices, and knowledge of “Government Auditing Standards” as prescribed by the Computer General of the United States and International Professional Practice Framework (IPPF).
