Bread Baker

Understudy is seeking a talented and dedicated Bread Baker to join our bakery team. This hourly position will focus on the production of high-quality artisan breads while supporting the daily operations of our bakery program.

Under the guidance of Executive Chef Philip Tessier and Director of Operations Justin Williams, Understudy is committed to excellence in the culinary arts and providing our community with exceptional food experiences. Responsibilities

• Prepare and bake a variety of artisan breads.

• Assist with daily bread production including mixing, fermenting, shaping, proofing, and baking.

• Maintain consistency and quality standards across all bread products.

• Follow established recipes, production schedules, and bakery procedures.

• Assist with ingredient prep, organization, and maintaining proper inventory levels.

• Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.

• Collaborate with the pastry and culinary teams on seasonal and specialty bread offerings.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a bakery or bread production environment preferred.

• Strong understanding of bread baking fundamentals including fermentation, hydration, and dough handling.

• Ability to work early morning shifts and maintain a consistent production schedule.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

• Passion for artisan bread and high-quality ingredients.
