CNC Lathe Set-Up Operator

Pay Rate: $24.00–$29.00 per hour

Shift: Second Shift, 4x10 schedule

Hours: Monday–Thursday, 3:30 PM – 1:30 AM

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Set-Up Operator to support second-shift manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for setting up and running CNC lathes to produce precision metal and plastic components to tight tolerances. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, high-mix environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up CNC lathe machines using provided programs, tooling, and job documentation

• Install tooling and fixtures efficiently while meeting required setup and cycle times

• Create tooling layouts and select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and soft jaws

• Edit programs as needed to improve efficiency and ensure part quality

• Perform tool changes, offsets, and minor program adjustments

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and sketches

• Use precision measuring tools to inspect parts and verify conformance to specifications

• Maintain responsibility for the quality of your own work throughout the production process

• Troubleshoot setup and machining issues to minimize downtime

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of CNC Lathe setup experience in a lead or advanced setup role

• Strong understanding of CNC lathe operations, tooling, and setup optimization

• Proficient with precision measuring equipment and inspection techniques

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with frequent changeovers
