Job Description and Duties PARK INTERPRETIVE SPECIALIST (SEASONAL) – SAN DIEGO COAST DISTRICT / OLD TOWN STATE HISTORIC PARK “Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program).” The reporting location for this position is Old Town San Diego State Historic Park in San Diego, CA .  This position will work under the direct supervision of the  State Park Interpreter III. Old Town San Diego State Historic Park is looking for enthusiastic individuals to work part-time providing hands-on living history programs, museum docenting, and facilitate experiential K-12 programs for 4 million visitors annually. Park Interpretive Specialists provide support for all education and interpretation programs in a dynamic urban and historic park environment. Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply. This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. This position requires a valid Class C driver’s license. Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English at a level required for successful job performance; demonstrate the ability to follow directions; learn work procedures and park rules and regulations quickly; perform varied physical manual tasks (lift 30 pounds); meet, interact and address the public effectively and successfully; willingness to work weekends and holidays; willingness to work odd or irregular hours as well as wear and maintain prescribed uniform and/or Period Attire while maintaining good hygiene habits and setting an example for other park staff, volunteers/interns. Must be honest, reliable, dependable, polite and courteous at all times to park visitors, staff, and volunteers/ interns.
