About The Role

Were looking for a User Experience Researcher to join Splunks Research & Insights team!

Your ability to identify, prioritize, and complete impactful research will help cross-functional teams make well-informed decisions to define the future of Splunk products. The research will come in the form of multi-methods, including but not limited to foundational, generative, and evaluative research while combining that with quantitative data sets (if applicable). You are recognized and trusted as the person who understands the constraints of the cross-functional team, and adapts the research as needed to achieve the research goals. With your involvement, your partners will integrate your research into the product roadmap.

You have a clear perspective about what research is needed for a cross-functional team, and persevere with that perspective as you work with your partners to create consensus and alignment. Through your work and collaborative process, you improve non-user researchers understanding and engagement of user needs and how to best address those needs. What Youll Do

• Foster UX research for AI and a data driven product design culture.
• Handle the design, administration, and execution of research studies with minimal guidance.
• Propose, plan, execute, and deliver user research at various stages of the product development lifecycle.
• Manage collaborators, which includes guiding partner discussions with the appropriate user research methods to achieve business and design goals.
• Partner with UX team members, including managers on research execution and/or design workshops.
• Understand when secondary research can be relied on, as well as high proficiency in primary research methods such as running lab studies, conducting user interviews, synthesizing past research, managing datasets, etc.
• Create deliverables in the form of engaging reports or other materials as needed by the project team.
• Share research insights with cross-functional partners to create a smarter, more informed, and more empathetic team.
• Unafraid of crafting new systems and processes as needed.
• Advance the research and insights practice by partnering with Research Operations for optimizing best practices and processes for the organization.
• This is a very hands-on role, and includes managing participant recruitment, data collection (includes moderating sessions), data synthesis and analysis, and delivery of findings and recommendations.

What Youll Bring

• 4+ years of experience doing qualitative and/or quantitative user research.
• Comprehensive experience planning and executing different types of research and usability testing activities.
• Degree in the field of HCI, Human Factors, Usability Engineering or a related field (advanced degree a plus).
• Strong sense of independence, ownership, and initiative with an ability to self-direct and manage what to work on, how to get it done, and when to deliver.
• Great organization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic organization.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and presentation skills.
• Clear understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase.
• Effective interpersonal, communication, negotiation and collaboration skills.
• Not afraid of ambiguity and willing to learn new skills.
• Ability to respond quickly and make decisions effectively in unexpected situations.
• Biased towards action.
• Desired demonstrated success conducting research in the field of AI.

Base Salary Range for Bay Area, California and New York City Metro Area

$133,300.00 to $186,800.00

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location.

Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period.

Exempt new hires participate in Ciscos flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Ciscos Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter. Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community.
