We are currently working on Project ETHOS, a new free-to-play, 3rd person rogue-like hero shooter and an exciting evolution on the genre!

Who You Are:

You are a high-impact engineering leader with a proven track record of delivering complex, scalable, and high-performance backend systems for top-tier game titles. You don’t just write code, you architect solutions that scale, solve problems that matter, and elevate every product you touch. You think beyond, proactively identifying opportunities to optimize systems, improve team velocity, and strengthen the technical foundation of the studio’s long-term vision.

Responsibilities:

• Develop server-side features on our title for cross-platform use.


• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.


• Independently plan and complete assignments while providing guidance.


• Exhibit flexibility and leadership in an Agile team environment.


• Support other software engineers through advice, coaching, mentorship, and helping new team members acclimate to the 31st Union engineering environment.

Required Qualifications:

• 7+ years of programming experience in server-side development, complemented by a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, and experience in developing AAA games.


• Fluent in C# and proficient in Python or GoLang.


• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, multi-threaded programming, robust engineering practices, and distributed and scalable systems.


• Experience with NoSQL Databases (MongoDB, DocumentDB).


• Experience with deploying and running applications hosted on AWS.


• A collaborative teammate who enjoys coding challenges, encourages input from others, and offers constructive feedback.


• Passionate about games and adept at solving large-scale problems in the gaming industry.

Relevant Experience:

• Experience with Kubernetes and microservice architectures.


• Experience optimizing distributed system performance (database queries, API calls, etc).


• Experience with C++ and Unreal Engine.


• Experience with online gaming architecture.

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $150,000 and $200,000 per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
