Director of Insurance Operations

The responsibilities of the Director of Insurance Operations are to lead and oversee the Insurance Department and to partner with other departments and members of DJM Financial to ensure the highest standard of client experience and firm operations. This position is responsible for developing and overseeing the operations of the Insurance Department, with a focus on client service, scalability, efficiency, accuracy and timeliness. The Director of Insurance Operations also leads the development of operational skills for other associates in the department, and for coordinating training sessions accordingly. This position is also responsible for maintaining current industry knowledge.
Requirements:Responsibilities
o Oversee the routine activities of the Insurance Department, ensuring efficient, accurate and timely execution; also perform or oversee unique or complex activities within the department. This includes both insurance underwriting and policy owner servicing.
o Collaborate with Advisors and Analysts in order to ensure efficient underwriting process for clients and team.
o Identify opportunities to improve the firm's insurance operations in order to enhance productivity, scale for growth, and ensure a strong client experience; implement or oversee the implementation of these improvements.
o Oversee technical development of associates within the department; identify training needs and coordinate or lead training sessions as applicable.
o Maintain current industry and company knowledge impacting insurance operations, and update processes as needed.
o Collaborate with other departments and team members of DJM Financial to ensure the firm is well positioned for continued growth and success by continuously enhancing the client experience, associate development and firm operations.
o Communicate with clients on insurance and annuity related matters.
o Ensure organizational compliance with state licensing requirements.
Qualifications
o Undergraduate degree preferred
o Insurance licenses required
o 10+ years of experience in insurance industry preferred
o Prior experience in supervision and training preferred
o Ability to adapt to changing environment and lead change
o Ability to identify and lead improvements in business processes and best practices
o Strong use of judgment and problem-solving skills
o Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and time management skills, with ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
o Ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with others
o Strong verbal and written communication skills
o Proficient computer skills, including Office 365, Northwestern Mutual insurance systems (Illustrations, Work Manager, etc.) and outside insurance systems are preferred.
