Church Finance Assistant

We are looking for an honest, conscientious, Christian, Finance Assistant to work with our church finances. This position is a part-time, temporary position from dates June 17th, to October, to cover a maternity leave. Your job is a non-management position which entails working QuickBooks online, accounts payable, bill pay, and vendors.
The Finance Assistant should maintain AP on a weekly basis, reconcile Quick Book Online on a daily and monthly basis, produce weekly reports for the CEO & CFO. The position requires one to be highly organized and able to multitask with ease and possess good people skills. The main tasks are working QuickBooks online. Our ideal candidate has experience in accounting skills, should understand 501(c) 3 Non-profits & church accounting. You should be familiar with office software (e.g. MS Office, QuickBooks, Excel spreadsheets), including basic computer skills. Strong communication skills are essential.
Responsibilities
- Maintain internal databases.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations.
- Organize, electronically store files, and print company documents as needed.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Conduct account analysis and reconciliations.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Process accounts payable transactions and ensure accurate recording weekly.
- Perform general ledger accounting tasks.
- Maintain documentation and files in accordance with company policies.
Skills
- Proven experience as an Finance Assistant.
- Familiarity with office equipment, including copiers, printers and fax machines.
- Experience with office management tools (MS Office software, in particular).
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong math skills and numerical skills.
- Problem-solving attitude with an eye for detail.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred, but not necessary.
- Strong financial acumen and understanding of accounting principles.
- Experience with account analysis and reconciliation.
- Knowledge of public accounting practices and procedures.
- Familiarity with technical accounting standards (GAAP).
- Proficiency in general ledger accounting processes.
- Experience with accounts payable functions and systems.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Ability to assist with budgeting activities.
