Machine Operator - Metcalfe, ON

Permacon, a CRH Company, is a leader and pioneer in the manufacturing of concrete masonry and landscaping products. Permacon is a division of Oldcastle APG and operates 9 plants in Ontario and Quebec.

We are currently looking for Machine Operators for rotating day/night shift for the weekend shift at our Metcalfe plant , Southern Ottawa.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operates Rekers machine (dry side) ensure its good functioning.
• Operate the strapping and wrapping machines and ensure its good functioning.
• Operates all the equipment related to the machine.
• Follow quality manual. Complete quality and production reports. Look after the curing of the products to ensure a good curing of product
• Perform set-up changes.
• Performs operations and necessary adjustments for machine start up.
• Programs equipment in accordance to the product requested. Make and save product recipes to optimize product change over.
• Perform preventive maintenance of equipment.
• Participate in maintenance work
• Participates machine clean-up. Clean up tasks as required, like cleaning Press / Mixer.
• Participates to the Rekers department housekeeping. Keep his work area and toolbox clean.
• Communicates to competent persons any abnormalities or faulty situations in regards to the product, quality, machine, equipment, workplace or other.
• Work as a team
• Wear safety personal protective equipment as required for this position and work safely.

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma
• wielding, mechanic, hydraulics and pneumatic knowledge will be an asset.
• At least 2 years experience in the manufacture industry operating equipment.
• Team work oriented, Mechanical aptitude, initiative; responsible, able to react, be precise.
• Shall pass the mechanical aptitude test to validate mechanical aptitude.
