Who are we looking for?

The US West Region is looking for a motivated Sr. Project Engineer - Highways & Roads to support GHD's established Highways and Roads practice throughout California and the US West. We are seeking a Project Engineer with the skills to help take our practice to the next level in the delivery of highways, interchanges, local roads, roundabouts, trails / active transportation, bridges, and other vital improvements. This position will be based out of any of our California or Arizona offices, but will be networked through our offices across the West Region, focusing on California.

• Perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and related facilities.
• Manage contracts by coordinating subcontractors and suppliers, acting as a primary contact within established plans.
• Identify process improvements and support change management initiatives.
• Support drafting of engineering standards and evaluate their effectiveness.
• Assist in knowledge management system support.
• Conduct inspections to evaluate quality and make recommendations for remedial works.
• Contribute to process design engineering to improve manufacturing or materials processes.
• Support client relationship management using relevant systems.
• Collect and analyze project data independently.
• Monitor construction works for quality, cost, and schedule adherence.
• Create engineering drawings to communicate solutions.
• Design engineering solutions and supervise testing approaches.
• Develop personal capabilities through training, certification, and industry engagement.
• Research and suggest technical developments to enhance project outcomes.
• Define and deliver products and services to meet customer needs.
• Work within project management plans to achieve specific goals.
• Conduct research and design testing standards.
• Support troubleshooting efforts for technical issues.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

Experience

• 7+ years of experience in transportation and municipal engineering, including planning, design, and construction.
• Registered Civil Engineer in California or Arizona preferred, or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Proficiency with PS&E package development using AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microstation preferred.
• Knowledge of Caltrans and AASHTO standards.
• Experience with transportation projects funded by local, state, and federal agencies, including Caltrans projects.

Salary Range : $99,000 - $150,000 based on experience and location
