Interim Controller

Our client, a high-growth software company, is seeking an Interim Controller to provide leadership and operational support during a critical period of growth and transition.

This role is 100% remote and has a duration of 5 months, with potential to extend.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and ensure financial data integrity.
• Support revenue accounting activities and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards.
• Provide leadership and oversight of accounting operations within a high-volume transaction environment.
• Partner with finance leadership on strategic initiatives, process improvements, and system enhancement projects.
• Assist with technical accounting matters, audits, and external reporting requirements.
• Mentor and support accounting team members while strengthening accounting processes and controls.

Requirements:

• 8 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or similar accounting leadership role.
• Strong experience within software, technology, or subscription-based business environments.
• Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and revenue recognition principles.
• Experience leading accounting operations, managing close processes, and supporting process improvement initiatives. CPA preferred.
