Part-Time English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher

Location: Cupertino, CA
Employment Type: Part-time
Schedule: Flexible ; 20-30 hours per week ( Weekend availability required )
Compensation: $70–$100 per teaching hour and $20–$22 per non-teaching hour, plus performance-based quarterly incentives

About the Role

As an ELA Teacher, you will help preschool and early-elementary students develop foundational language and literacy skills while building their curiosity and confidence. You will create a warm, interactive learning environment and collaborate closely with parents, fellow teachers, and campus staff to support each child's development.

This role is ideal for an experienced educator who understands how young children learn, enjoys working with early learners, and is passionate about delivering engaging, age-appropriate instruction.

Key ResponsibilitiesClassroom Instruction and Curriculum Delivery
  • Deliver engaging, age-appropriate English and early-literacy lessons to students ages 3–6.
  • Teach phonics, vocabulary, storytelling, reading comprehension, and foundational writing skills.
  • Use songs, games, movement, and hands-on activities to create an interactive learning experience.
  • Adapt instructional methods and materials to meet students' developmental needs and learning styles.
  • Prepare lesson materials and complete other teaching-related responsibilities as assigned.
Student Assessment and Progress Tracking
  • Monitor and document students' language development, classroom participation, and academic progress.
  • Provide parents with regular, constructive feedback through check-ins, progress reports, and conferences.
  • Use formative assessments to adjust instruction and support each student's continued progress.
Classroom Management and Student Support
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and well-organized classroom environment.
  • Establish clear routines and use positive behavior-management strategies appropriate for young learners.
  • Support students' social-emotional development by modeling patience, empathy, and active listening.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Communicate professionally and warmly with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers and campus staff to align curriculum and share instructional best practices.
  • Participate in training sessions, campus events, workshops, and open houses as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, English, or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience teaching English or early literacy to preschool, kindergarten, or lower-elementary students.
  • Strong understanding of child development, early-literacy acquisition, and age-appropriate teaching strategies.
  • Excellent classroom-management and communication skills.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for working with children ages 3–6.
  • Responsible, dependable, and committed to delivering high-quality instruction.
  • Available to work on weekends, including Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, English, or a related field.
  • Experience with inquiry-based, project-based, or play-based learning.
  • Familiarity with U.S. early-learning or elementary education standards.
  • Experience teaching English Language Learners or bilingual students.
  • Experience communicating with parents and providing student-progress feedback.
