The Information Systems Division works in collaboration with programs and county agencies, to provide solutions to systems that assist families access essentials such as, but not limited to, medical services, care providers, groceries, and transportation.

Under the direction of the Information Technology Supervisor II, the Information Technology Specialist I is responsible for the availability of department’s IT server infrastructure which allows CDSS staffs to perform their duties in accomplishing CDSS’s mission. As Part of the system architecture team, integrates existing and new IT to solve business changing needs. Server team helps to define and enforce security policy, plan and procure resource, protect CDSS data and investments, and provide a secure way to access resource from internal as well as external. The primary duties of the IT Spec. I lie within Client Services Domain.

Working Conditions

This work location is very convenient! The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation: within walking distance of the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmers’ markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50, and Highway 80.

This position is eligible for hybrid work in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order N-22-25 and at the sole discretion of the Department of Social Services under California Government Code Section 14200. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be re-evaluated at any time. The incumbent will be expected to report for in office work and attend work related in-person events as deemed operationally necessary. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the CDSS policies. For positions advertised in more than one location, headquarter location may be designated on the selected candidate's primary residence location, and/or the closest CDSS location in accordance with operational need and available space. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

1. How have you used Ansible or Puppet for configuration management at scale?Describe implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in your environment.

2.What is Always On Availability Groups, and how does it differ from Database Mirroring?What is Failover Clustering in SQL Server?

3.Explain the difference between clustered and non-clustered indexes? What are the system databases in SQL Server?

4.How do you migrate on-premises workloads to AWS or Azure?Design a high-availability setup in Azure/AWS.

5. Explain Active Directory FSMO roles and how to seize them in a disaster.

This position is subject to fingerprinting clearance by the Department of Justice.
